Responsibility
Responsibility
Responsibility – a word that for most people, gives a funny shiver down their spine. Some people welcome it, but in my experience, most people spend an incredible amount of time avoiding it. Normally, responsibility comes with knowledge, knowledge creates awareness and awareness brings a desire to take action. But responsibility is often abdicated by individuals, as most of the time, it takes too much time and effort to carry the responsibility. Quite often, it calls for sacrifices and even more so, difficult choices to create change where needed.
What makes me sad, is if I see or hear very “woke” people, recite all the theory, going through the motions, “yes I know it all”, but their actions don’t show that they are living the truth of their words. That tells me, that between knowledge (or the part knowledge),there is a lack of awareness.
People sometimes seek enlightenment, looking for something more than what they know. Looking for their purpose, looking to heal from their past, looking for a better life, more abundance. But what they don’t realise, is that the moment they receive that healing, that clarity, the message of their purpose – the more it comes with responsibility. A responsibility to walk the talk and to see it through. And not many people, is ready to do what it takes.
One of the ways in which our past trauma can trip us up in a situation like this, is if we had too much or too little responsibility as a child. A child who had to deal with too much responsibility, will have one of two responses: they will run away from anything that may seem like it has an expectation or, they will try to take all the responsibility for everyone around them, because that’s how the learned to cope or survive as a child. A child who had little or no responsibility, turns out what people may perceive to be “spoilt”. A child who expects someone to come in and solve their problems all the time, or an adult who just simply leaves a stream of destruction and never takes any responsibility for his/her creations.
None of the above scenarios are ideal, and one should ponder if there is at least a little bit of this in each of us playing out in our life? Because when did life promise you a perfect childhood with a perfect balance in responsibility?
One can also do some introspection to track any traces of the above by simply looking at the fruit of your relationships, the karma accumulated in your life. The repeated themes that keep playing out in your life, with different relationships or human interactions. It can also very much keep you away from your greatness! What if your potential is to be the CEO of a company, but your aversity to responsibility is keeping you at the reception desk?
It’s an awfully limiting world view and one that I for one, would definitely like to make sure I heal in my life completely.
There is no good responsibility and bad responsibility – there is just responsibility. Examples of responsibility – it is your responsibility to:
- heal yourself
- take responsibility for your choices/actions
- fulfill your soul contracts
- figure out what the “truth” is – and any convoluted versions of truth that you carry (illusions) will send you on the longer path of learning – so wisdom is first prize!
- refrain from causing other people any physical and emotional harm
If you are trying to put ANY of this responsibility on someone else’s shoulders, you find yourself in murky waters. Waters that will allow you a slow or stagnant progression in life. Taking responsibility can be a wonderfully freeing and empowering step in your life!
Love and Moonlight,
Leonie
